Okay parents, this one’s more for you than the kids: Shishito peppers. This is one of the easiest and most crowd pleasing appetizers around. The typical heat range of the Shishito peppers runs from 50 – 200 Scoville Heat Units on the Scoville Scale, which isn’t very hot, but since there’s a range, you will encounter a spicy one once in a while! For reference a typical Jalapeno is about 5000 SHU. Here’s how to make this super simple app!
- Pierce each pepper with a sharp knife
- Heat 1 – 2 Tbsp. of oil, like avocado oil, on medium-high heat
- Turn occasionally
- Cook until they blister on all sides
- Sprinkle with salt and serve right away
